The Tillandsia Ionantha Scaposa is one of the multiple Ionantha air plants that we are having available for sale on our Tillandsia webshop. This particular Ionantha air plant distinguishes itself by a longer shape than the other Ionanthas. The leaves of the Ionantha Ionantha and the Ionantha Rubra are kind of falling down in bulb form, where those of this air plant keep up and stiff making the Ionantha Scaposa a long-formed air plant. With its beautiful light green color, this plant could be used perfectly in arrangements and bouquets for example.
The Tillandsia Ionantha Scaposa requires very few care just like the other Ionantha species. This air plant likes to be sprayed +- once a week.
The Tillandsia xerographica is a beautiful and relatively large species within the various Tillandsia species. It is also called the ‘King of Air Plants’. The gray / silver colored leaves that grow from the heart towards the butt, makes it a really exclusive and decorative plant to have and use. Like the Tillandsia Harissii, the Xerographica is covered by the CITES certificate. This means that the species is protected in Central America and therefore only a limited amount of these plants may be imported.
The Tillandsia xerographica can be easily used in wedding bouquets, wreaths and in table decoration for example. The leaves of this plant can also be used separately for decoration, both dry and wet. During the flowering stage of this plant, a large red and green flower grows from the heart.
However, the Tillandsia Xerographica is being shipped before this stage from the farms in Central America to the Netherlands
The Tillandsia Usneoides, also known as Spanish moss, is a plant without roots from the epiphyte family. This plant gets its water and nutrients through its leaves from the (moist) air and raindrops. The Tillandsia Usneoides has curly grayish and long down-growing leaves that mostly hang over the branches of trees. The beauty of this kind is that it spreads itself and living area by the help of Mother Nature. Mainly by wind or birds, this air plant is being moved and spread to other branches for example and so continues to develop and grow in other places, which is very different from our other air plants.
The Tillandsia Usneoides mostly lives in tropical areas with high humidity and under the right circumstances can grow to a length of 1 to 2 meters! The original habitat of this plant ranges from Argentina to southeastern United States.
